My Name is Sour Sop

I am a tropical fruit. I was first grown in Mexico. I was then introduced to Central America, South America, the Caribbean and the West Indies, and other tropical countries as far as Africa.

I am an evergreen tree with green broad leaves; I can grow from

8 to 20 feet in height.

I have several names ; My English name is Sour sop, my Filipino name is Guyabano, my scientific names is Annona Muricata, Linnauesu, my Brazilian name is Graviola, my Spanish name is Guanabana. I also have many shapes. I can be round, oval, heart-shaped or oblong.

My skin is green, leathery and spiky looking. I can measure from 8 to 12 inches long and can weigh up to 2.5 kilos; my flesh is creamy, tangy and juicy; my seeds are black –brown in color.

I am rich in vitamin c, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, dietary fiber, calcium, potassium and other healing propensities. You can eat me when I am ripe; you can make candies, tarts, milk shakes, beverages, and eat me with ice-cream.

Research studies have shown; that I am a natural cancer cell killer. I am 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy and I only kill the cancer cells, leaving the healthy cells safe.
